India doesn't have a shortage of places that overwhelm you in good ways. But Rajasthan does something specific — it layers. History over architecture over colour over landscape, all at once, all day. The tour package of Rajasthan we'd picked moved us through four cities and each one felt distinct enough to be its own trip. That variety within one state still surprises me when I think about it.
